How To protect Wool From Moth
"Wool" is referred to any yarn or fabric that consists of more then 40% pure woolen fiber

Moth prefers dark, undisturbed areas such as closets. Adult moth does not eat wool, only larvae (hatched from eggs of moth) eats wool.

If you are going to store wool, here are tips how to prevent adult moth to lay eggs:

  • Wool should be completely clean so that there is no vegetation or odor to attract moth.
  • place wool into dry and clean plastic bag tightly sealed after.
  • Freshly dried (no more then 1 year old) flowers such as lavender, chamomile and tansy or cider bark is an excellent repellent for an adult moth and can be placed together with wool.
  • Woolen apparel knitted or crochet from fingering weight yarn can be used all four seasons and does not require storage at all.

Remember, it will be no moth around the garment

    that is always in use!
