How many times
you wrap the yarn around
the hook defines the stitch:
Single crochet-If you have no wrapped yarn around the hook
Double crochet-If you wrapped the yarn around the hook 1 time
Treble crochet-If you wrapped the yarn around the hook 2 times
Double treble crochet-If you wrapped the yarn around the hook 3 times
You can wrap the yarn as many times as you would like to, but maximum most commonly number of wraps used is 3
Each wrap means one more time to draw the yarn through each next 2 loops
