Lesson 3.1: Making a chain of loops

  • Make a knot and secure both ends of yarn with your left middle, ring and pinky fingers
  • Place this knot on the top of left index finger so that short end is looking at you and yarn from the ball is wrapped behind the left index finger
  • Insert the hook into this knot and press short end with left thumb finger right bellow the knot
  • Always keep the yarn from the ball around the left index finger
  • Insert hook under the yarn from the ball in counter clockwise motion and draw the yarn into this knot
  • This is your first loop
  • Place right middle finger onto this loop at the backside of the hook to prevent if from sliding
  • Move your left thumb finger under the loop
  • Again, insert the hook under the yarn from the ball and draw the yarn into your first loop
  • Again, move your left thumb finger under the loop. New loop will be always on the top of the left index finger and previous loop will be always secured between left index and thumb fingers
  • You will be moving your left thumb finger toward each new loop. After some time of practice, you will be moving your left thumb finger after 5-6 new loops

  • Chain facing you:
