    Lesson7: Crochet fabric and yarn

There are at least 2 types of chrochet fabrics can be done: clothes and tableware. For making clothes you can use any type of yarn, depending on the nature of the garment. For making tableware, such as doilies, usually lacy weight cotton or flax is used.

Always remember that crochet fabric is not elastic. No matter what pattern or what type of fabric you are trying to make.

IBecause each single stitch in crochet stands as a single unit and never as part of the entire fabric should carefully consider what type of yarn to use.

Use this table as a reference

winter coat DK or chunky weight woolen yarn in non-lacy pattern
any garment that is worn inside during all 4 seasons or outside in spring and autum from lace to fingering woolen yarn in any pattern (You may achieve elasticity to some point)
blanket any weight woolen yarn in any pattern
winter scarf & mitts or gloves from lace to DK weight woolen yarn in any pattern
winter hat from DK to chunky weight woolen yarn in non-lacy pattern
any summer garments from lace to fingering cotton, flax or rayon yarn in any pattern
tableware from lace to fingering cotton and flax in any lacy pattern
