Cables
No matter how complicated cable looks on the pattern, it is based on two simple rules:
Rule 1: position of stitches is always changed from left to right
Rule 2: the change of stitches is done either at the back or the front of your work
Change at the back gives a slant from left-to-right; Change at the front gives a slant from right-to-left
There are only two variations that make cables look different from each other (true
for both rules):
Variation 1: number of stitches to change position -> posible combinations
Variation 2: how to process stitches – knitwise or purlwise

Abbreviations used in Headwater Wool patterns
 When working with cables, it is better to choose yarns that have elasticity, such as wool.
If you desided to work with cables using cotton, then it is better to use patterns where cables are mixed with lace, because cables will be flat any way.
Also, keep in mind that cables are not visible on dark color or multi-color yarns.
