Basic Knitting Shapes

Whether you decided to knit a vest, a cardigan or a pullover shapping is always involved.
V-neck, round neck, square neck or raglan, set-in square, set-in round - these are all definitions of garment shapping

The good news is that all you have to know is how to increase and how to decrease stitches.
  • Increasing is when you make an additional stitch
Make one stitch Variant 1 (Yarn Over)
Make one stitch Variant 2 (In the same stitch twice)
Make one stitch Variant 3 (In the same stitch twice)
Make one stitch Variant 4 (Making a knot between two stitches the same as in Cast On variant 2 )
Make one stitch Variant 5 (Making a loop or twisted yarn over beteen two stitches)
  • Decreasing is when you process more then one stitch as one stitch
    Decrease two stitches Variant 1
    Decrease two stitches Variant 2
    Decrease two stitches Variant 3
    Working with waste yarn
    Working with extra needle
    Working with remaining stitches
Binding off stitches in the middle of work
Casting on stitches in the end of row
