CONTINENTAL TECHNIQUE Lesson 12

Home Work for Basic Shapes Lesson

Knitting pattern can be described differently from person to person and place to place.
Knit these Mini-Garments and observe different description for each of them.
Abbreviations:
k:knit, p:purl, tog:together,sts:stitches

Shape A
Follow this pattern to knit shape A
Cast on 20 sts and work back and forth in stockinet for 20 rows evenly. Bind off all sts loosely.
Shape B
Follow this pattern to knit shape B
Variant 1:
Cast on 30 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the end of each row until 10 sts left. Bind off all sts loosely
Variant 2:Cast on 30 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the beginning and end of each second row until 10 sts left. Bind off all sts loosely.
Variant 3:Cast on 30 sts and work back and forth in stockinet
Row 1: knit to last 2 sts, k2tog
Row 2: purl to last 2 sts, p2tog
Repeat from Row 1 until 10 sts left
Bind off all sts loosely.
Shape C
Follow this pattern to knit shape C
Variant 1:Cast on 20 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the end of each 2nd row at your right side until all sts are used
Variant 2:Cast on 20 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the beginning of each 2nd row at your wrong side until all sts are used
Shape D
Follow this pattern to knit shape D
Variant 1:Cast on 20 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the beginning of each 2nd row at your right side until all sts are used
Variant 2:Cast on 20 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the end of each 2nd row at your wrong side until all sts are used
Shape E
Follow this pattern to knit shape E
Cast on 10 sts and work back and forth evenly in k1, p1 rib for 5 rows in total.Continue working in stockinet increasing 1 st in the beginning and end of each 3rd row until 20 sts are left on the needle. Bind off all sts loosely.
Shape F
Follow this pattern to knit shape F
Cast on 10 sts and work back and forth evenly in k1, p1 rib for 5 rows in total.Continue working in stockinet.
Row 1: knit to end, cast on 5 sts
Row 2: purl to end, cast on 5 stsContinue working evenly for the next 10 rows. Bind off all sts loosely
Shape G
Follow this pattern to knit shape G
Cast on 32 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the beginning and end of each 4th row for entire work.When your work measures 4m/1in divide all sts by 2. Process one half of sts and transfer another half sts onto waste yarn.Continue working with sts on needle. From inner side bind off 4 sts and continue working with remaining sts decreasing 1 st in the beginning of each 4th row from the outer side until 4 sts left. Bind off sts.Transfer sts from waste yarn onto a needle. Repeat the same steps as for the first half
Shape H
Follow this pattern to knit shape H
Cast on 32 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the beginning and end of each 4-th row for entire work. When your work measures 4cm/1in divide all sts by 2. Process one half of sts and transfer another half sts onto waste yarn. Continue working with sts on needle.From inner side bind off 4 sts and continue working with remaining sts decreasing 1 st in the beginning of each 4th row from the outer side and 1 st in the end of each 3rd row from the inner side until all sts are used.Bind off sts. Transfer sts from waste yarn onto a needle. Repeat the same steps as for the first half
Shape I
Follow this pattern to knit shape I
Cast on 24 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the beginning and end of each 4-th row for entire work. When your work measures 4cm/1in count all remaining sts and divide them by 2. Process one half of sts and transfer another half sts onto waste yarn. Continue working with sts on needle decreasing 1 st in the beginning of each 4th row at the outer side and 1 st in the end of each 3rd row at the inner side until all sts are used.Bind off sts.Transfer sts from waste yarn onto a needle. Repeat the same steps as for the first half
Shape J
Follow this pattern to knit shape J
Cast on 26 sts and work back and forth in stockinet decreasing 1 st in the end of each row untill 10 sts left on needle. Increase 1 st in the begining and end of each 3rd row untill 26 sts left on needle. Bind off all sts.
