The most efficient
hand position (like holding a needle in Old English):
Your pinky and ring fingers are free and aible to hold your work
You will be holding and slightly pulling your work to the right side
Because you are able to hold the crochet
fabric in your hand you are controlling your gauge. It is much easier to insert
the hook even in most delicate crochet by pulling your work down and widening the
stitch. |
The least efficient
hand position (like holding a needle in Continental):
All your fingers are reserved for holding the hook and you are not able to hold
your work
You will be twisting your wrist more often
Some people believe that this way is faster to crochet. Probably it is true. However,
if you do not hold the crochet fabric in your hand you are not able to control the
gauge in more delicate crochet like lace. Just keep it mind.
