Headwater Wool started retail operation in 2003. At present we operate the store
in cozy and beautiful Orangeville, Ontario, which is the center of Ontario Headwaters
Region. Company logo - the cattail and web site colors come from our local marshes.
The image of the logo we have to tread with the camera in order to find the cattail worthy of becoming
our company symbol.
Headwater Wool specializes in the natural yarn. Our main lines all have high content
of Wool, Cotton and Linen. We hand pick the yarns we sell. In order to keep prices
low we buy directly from mills in Europe. We work together with these mills
to produce yarn lines that support our trends and our patterns best.
Headwater Wool and its sister company Lara's Trends have large collection of patterns
designed in-house. Lara's Trends is our main source of couture and fashion designs.
Both Headwater Wool and Lara's Trends run workshops at the Creativ Festival and DKC
Frolic. Lara's Trends owner runs topic workshops by invitation from local guilds.
As an appreciation for our customers we run in-store workshops and classes for all
levels free of charge.
In 2004 we started raising Alpacas on our farm in Hillsburgh, Ontario. We have a mix
of animals from breeding stock to ones being rescued. Alpaca fleece is the main
source for our excellent quality luxury yarn that we sell under Lara's Trends
brand. We work in cooperation with local mill "Shears to You" to produce wonderful
collection of yarns of all weights and shades. Alpacas are fun. They have wit and
personality, which are superior to majority of the domestic and farm animals. We
enjoy their company and care for them. They are never boring and never cease to
amaze us with their cheerful personalities.
